CYLINDER SHARPENING

Before we start to sharpen the cylinder we first acid wash the cylinder to remove any paint and residue. Once its cleaned off we then sand blast the cylinder to send it back to the bare metal, primer and finally paint in the classic cylinder red. With our precision cylinder grinder we can sharpen lawnmower cylinders up to 36 inches. We have a separate grinder designed specifically for sharpening the bottom blades of cylinder mowers. As well as sharpening the cylinder and bottom blade we will set the blades. The blades on the cylinder bear against the bottom blade and when set up correctly should be able to cut paper along the entire length of the cylinder. As well as being no gap, the pressure should not be too high as the blades will wear quickly and generate heat. Also, the bottom blade must lie parallel to the axis of the cylinder or you will get an uneven cut.
